About Susan
Susan Withers is an Accredited MBACP Counsellor with over 20 years’ experience, and a qualified teacher who has taught in both mainstream schools and Pupil Referral Units. Her qualifications include: Counsellor, Supervisor, Rewind Trauma Therapist, Equine Assisted Therapist, Animal Assisted Therapist, Forest School Lead, Licensed Thrive and Family Thrive practitioner and Level 1 & 2 in Animal Assisted Play Therapy.
Susan currently works with schools, councils, fostering agencies and private practice, offering consultation, counselling, supervision, alternative therapeutic interventions and bespoke therapy. Her network in Somerset and nationally is vast, including primary and secondary schools, educational psychologists, play therapists, GPs, Paediatricians and Local Authorities.
Susan has worked alongside many professionals and organisations in supporting their SEMH needs. She has associates and volunteers who work with her, and her work is underpinned by evidenced-based approaches and informed with current neuroscience. She also has an enhanced DBS.
Susan also offers therapy and parenting support to elite athletes across many sports. She is a dedicated counsellor for Sporting Chance. Susan understands the demands of life as a professional athlete or coach; she also knows how these demands impact the partners and family of a professional athlete. Susan has helped the athlete, partners and their children find a more contented and peaceful way of working together.

About Phoebe
Phoebe is a qualified counsellor and has a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling as well as a diploma in Counselling Children and Young people. She also has a degree in BSc Hons of Animal Science and Conservation and is a ISCP Canine Practitioner, qualified in both dog behaviour and professional dog training.
Phoebe is responsible for the animal welfare at Alder Barn Therapy and has a certificate in dog first aid and a certificate in outdoor first aid. She is the Head of Therapeutic Interventions for children and young people.
